Do you ever wonder if the positioning of the elements on your website are really making any sense? I mean from the visitor’s point of view.
Most people in this DIY world of us approach the design of a website from a visual standpoint. We immediately jump into trying to figure out color schemes, fonts and graphics to the point of putting business objectives in the backseat.
Are you guilty?
Do you know how important your homepage is? Well, it’s usually the main point-of-entry to the site and as you know, you only have a split second to grab those visitors and make them stay a few more seconds, who knows, maybe even a few minutes. Sites that have a negative first impact most likely never have a second chance.

There seems to be a big misconception that site design is simply about beautifying a web page. A designer’s job is to take a page of text and pretty it up by scattering a couple of pictures here and there, maybe choosing a sexy font, adding some links, and BOOM! Successful website. Watch the steady stream of opt-ins and millions in revenue just pile up.
Though I sometimes wish the job was that easy, that’s never the case. In fact, design is such an underrated skill set and rarely gets the recognition it deserves.

Yes, it’s that time again. Time to give away stuff here at SocialMouths. Time to accumulate some good Karma credits.
If you have been reading SocialMouths for a while, you probably noticed that I like giving stuff away from time to time. Today I’ll take the opportunity to promote one of my new services, a Review Of Your Blog And Social Media. Even tough this was not listed as a service before, I’m often asked to review blogs, Facebook Pages and social media strategies in general so, I decided to officially offer it to my readers.
This is also a good way to thank you all because SocialMouths just finished October with an all-time high in traffic, double its subscriptions, had the lowest bounce rate in the history of humanity and for the first time in one year, the number one source of traffic was “Google Organic” (not sure what that means yet since I don’t pay much attention to SEO in this blog).
Anyways, back to you. Let’s go over what the prize includes, how the contest works and the requirements…
The point of this type of review is that we sometimes get stuck in one way of doing things, we put in the hard work over long hours trying to be successful in our social media and blogging efforts and we can’t seem to get ahead in the game. Those are the times when we need an outsider to come in and give us a good reality check, a constructive one of course. Getting somebody else’s perspective can help us unstuck and adjust our strategy. Even better if we get somebody with experience, with a share of success as well as failure under his belt to point out specifics.

So it’s pretty obvious that last week we made some drastic changes to the way SocialMouths looks but we wanted to go over these changes and what they mean to us and to you as a reader or client.
These are not just changes on the front-end, stuff happened in the back as well as it is happening as a business, something we’ll address and share with you in a few days. For now let’s see what happened on the design and technical side…
It will be awesome if you have a couple of minutes to share your thoughts about it in the comments section. We have no problem with getting either positive or negative feedback so feel free to shoot!

Well, of course the main section of your blog is the content area but the sidebar gives you the opportunity to display some really useful information to your visitors.
The sidebar should not be underestimated, it is a key element to your blog that should be aligned with your goals.
