The Future Of Email According To Teens If you have a teen at home, I’m sure you have noticed the usage of email accounts is completely different than previous generations.

My daughter the other day had to check her email address because she didn’t remember it. I’ll tell you more, when she’s done watching Netflix movies she puts them back in the envelope and leaves them right there in the living room. Maybe she thinks the Netflix guy comes in our living room once a week to pick up our movies. Maybe she doesn’t know about the Postal office either…

But that is old conversation, right? Here is what I’m interested in today:

  1. Email lists are probably the most targeted prospect you will ever get. People give you permission to send them information. I hope you understand that.
  2. If these little brats are ignoring my super powerful marketing vehicle, how am I going to connect with them? At some point they will be my prospect, maybe for you they already are.

The new Facebook Lists and the Subscribe buttonLots of stuff happening on the Facebook sphere this week. And as usual a lot is said, rumors come and go… so I though it would be cool to take it down a notch for the reader at SocialMouths and get right to the point explaining the new updates.

The new features are 2, so far (hey, the week is not over), “Lists” and the “Subscribe” button. We’ll discuss both of them and I’ll tell you exactly what they do.

Let’s first say that these new updates are really something that a lot of people expected from Facebook a long time ago. Not only that but they are pretty much just adding some of the functionalities from both biggest competitors Twitter and Google+, we’ll see why now.

This is a guestpost by Eugene Farber from Reality Burst.

Few tools, platforms or communities have gotten as much coverage (and sometimes criticism) in the blogosphere of late as Triberr has. The platform/community has grown rapidly. And when you get so many people on each side of the fence, you know you’re doing something right.

9 marketing lessons from triberr

So what did Dino Dogan, the marketing brains behind Triberr, do to assure its success? Here are nine marketing lessons I pulled out of Triberr’s rise:

How to get more retweetsThis is a guest post by Leo Widrich from BufferApp.

Wow, this must be a surprise. Only a few weeks ago, Francisco gave me the chance to write a guestpost here at SocialMouths. And everything I wrote in there was about making Twitter work for you by focusing on the people, not on metrics.

Now this?

The idea, which I have expressed earlier definitely hasn’t changed. Recently we did some research, focusing on what impact scheduling Tweets with Buffer can have for you. Here are the results in numbers:

“People that start to Buffer their Tweets increased clicks on links they posted by 200% within 2 weeks of using. The amount of retweets doubles on average. Finally Buffer users increase their follower count by 104 followers within 3 weeks on average.”

How Is Social Media Growing [Infographic]Usually when the media talks about social media growth or when they mention a specific network, they go to the number of users.

We know Facebook has a zillion users, we know that G+ has hit 25 million. While that information is important, it’s like me saying that I have X amount of Twitter followers. In other words, you don’t get much out of it.

The reason I want to share this infographic that Search Engine Journal made public today is because it provides more interesting facts. The cool part will be to take some of that data and see how it can be useful to you. For example, did you know that 75% of brand “likes” are coming from advertisements? or that the growth of mobile access to Facebook from 2010 to 2011 is 200%.

Should you start spending time on StumbleUpon now that reports claim it represents more than 50% of the social media traffic and has passed Facebook to the #1 spot?

Not really. Let’s take a second to understand if StumbleUpon can really send you more traffic, what kind of traffic and I’ll also give you 3 quick tips to help you increase traffic to your site.

What, you thought StumbleUpon was dead?

StumbleUpon is very much alive. In March 2011 Mashable reported 15 million users and new signups of around 500k per month. Those are huge numbers, how many services do you know that get half a million signups per month?

Are you talking to your audience or to the industry?Blogging and online marketing is hard work as it is. There is a combination of elements that need to work together such as design, technology, content, sales strategy and the list goes on and on.

But there is one thing that will determine if your online business is successful or not, it doesn’t matter if you have mad eye candy on your website, all the latest technology or a great sales strategy ready to ship products out the door. It’s a very simple concept and yet, probably one of the hardest to nail down…

You need to know your audience.

But in this case let’s assume you know who your audience or your target market is.
