Your timing for this article was remarkable! I literally just spent a couple of hours today looking at F-commerce options to add to my page. I think Payvment is the best known one but I have seen some pretty cool ones being used by pages – I just can’t find the name of the app for them though!

Thank you Abhi, the point of the post is that it will be good timing for some people.

Facebook is definitely taking over!  On one hand, I think it is a cool idea to be able to purchase from inside Facebook (kinda like a one stop deal), on the other hand I am not too into having Facebook monitor my purchases.  The good thing is, unlike the discussion tab that they will be moving on October 31 whether we like it or not, we have a choice to make our purchases inside Facebook or not.

I just realized there are some changes in the features of Facebook. This makes me have to rethink my online strategy. The New F-Word, well Mr. Francisco, your writing comes at the right time. Help us to”translate” your writing. :)

Product recommendation is one of the beauty of social media. It helps a business build its credibility while increasing sales. That tiny Facebook like button is one powerful tool for any business. This is why a lot of businesses utilize social media as one of the ways to connect to more people and introduce their brand and products.

Mucho gusto Francisco!!!  Really enjoyed your article. I know a lot of people that create beautiful handcrafts and i think it would be great for them to create a F-Commerce and start making some $$. Will incorporate this service in our business.
    Thanks!!!

Strangely, or perhaps not, as soon as I read this article, I had an email from FB about their FB Marketing Boot Camp.  Literally as soon as I closed this upon reading.
But back to the point, great read, thanks for the info.
    cheers

I don’t want to bore you with more stats but I was just reading in Website Magazine that a Constant Contact study shows that 58% “liked” a brand because they are a customer and 57% “liked” the page because they wanted to receive discounts. This pretty much supports the stats you have given.

I have a local customer that has a tool supply store. They have their FB page setup to generate likes and then are immediately sent to a second form where the new fans can get a 10% in-store discount for opting into their list. It’s working wonders for both in-store purchases as well as their email marketing campaigns.

How well do you think this would work for a service-based company Francisco? Is it only in the realm of product companies?

  • http://dempseymarketing.com/journal/media/ Robert Dempsey

Nice strategy on the part of your local customer Brian. I also find it interesting that your stats show people like brands that they have an existing relationship with. So for the consumer it isn’t much to like them as all their friends already know they dig the brand.

I wonder how well companies fare that don’t have those existing relationships.

But, are you ready to take those sales to social media instead of
waiting for them on your site? I want you to start thinking about these
three points, let’s do a quick recap:

forward into other capacities that could enable our businesses to close
that circle and fully leverage the social Internet?
