This Is How The Facebook Timeline Will Look Like. Say Goodbye To Your Profile [Image]

Facebook new profile Well, the day was pretty much hijacked by Facebook in regards to anything related to the Internet and technology in general.

Facebook had its big announcement at the F8 Conference and as expected, it was huge whether you liked or not and we can argue about that the rest of the week. There are quite a few changes on the table and I suspect this stuff is already blowing up all over the blogosphere.

I thought about doing something different and instead of listing all the updates, I’m giving you the full image of what the new Facebook Timeline is going to look like. After all, this one image gives you a great idea of what’s going on.

Feel free to click on the image to see the full-size version.

Also, you can use the comment section below to share your thoughts or ask questions.

It will be interesting to see how the new timeline ends up affecting the vibe at Facebook. The sample you’re showing looks great and very Facebook-like, but they’ve put that together with carefully selected apps. Two or three sparkly blingy apps later, that page could be in My Space territory. I don’t see that as being a likely outcome, but I’m excited to see how all of this plays out once the users start playing with it. It’s also exciting to consider the new ways developers will find to use the new options FB is making available.

….so basically instead of tabs, it’s all disorganized on one page like MySpace? Time to move on to Google+.

  • http://www.facebook.com/kim.scott.va Kim Franzen Scott

Ok. And so just where does the stuff I actually want to see show up? Where do my friends statuses, my kids’s statuses, the statuses of all the pages I like show up at? Its really pretty, rather MySpace-like (the part of MySpace that I left behind with pleasure), and sort of website-ish. But I don’t want to see all MY info on FB. I want to see other’s people’s info! If this is what it will be, then I’m going to end up hanging out at G+ a heck of a lot more. Really hope it doesn’t end up being what I am seeing. When does this take effect anyway?

My head hurts already. I am quite excited to see these changes though.

p.s. F8 hi-jacked my day as well… unplanned. Maybe that’s why my body knew I needed to fall asleep at 9pm lastnight. Guess I’ll do today’s work from now until 2 am tonight ;)

Came back to add that with these new changes I am already starting to look at my privacy setting for my personal page. Little too much info to be shared w/creepers! ;)

What about you Francisco? Are you thinking same thing?

I am sure happy to have the biz pages for my biz & personal biz brand. I hope Facebook does not move toward an #Unthink model where they push the different lifestyles (personal, biz etc.) on one page. Will be a turnoff for me if they do and way too much to keep track of. I would much rather keep personal page personal & biz page biz.

My 2 cents from a nut who had waaayyy too much sleep lastnight & has been in Facebook F8 land all day. Somebody SAAAVE me PLEASE!!!  ;)

Hmmmmm,….. kinda looking forward to these updates and having more rich content, just get them done and stop changing things every week already!

It looks a lot like MySpace to me….  I kinda “Like” it!!!!

  • http://www.socialmouths.com Francisco Rosales

Kim, the new timeline started to roll out already. Not sure what the criteria is but I have friend in Chile that have it already.

In regards to MySpace, I have seen already the same reaction in a few places. The News Feed will remain so that’s where you’ll see your friends updates, although it has been redesigned also.

    Thanks for your comment!

  • http://www.socialmouths.com Francisco Rosales

I will be interesting to see the users reaction in the following days as it started to roll out. I’m not sure that this will benefit G+, it might…

  • http://www.socialmouths.com Francisco Rosales

Debbie, I think things updates are going to slow down now, of course now we need to see how it rolls out and see the general reaction.

Also, Google+ might still have a couple of surprises in bag…

  • Trish

I don’t like the changes–I don’t need a “mirror” profile page.  This ruins the whole concept of  facebook (for me).  I used FB as a superhighway of info of/to family & friends & group interests & news.  This new re-do looks boring & narcisstic (sp) to me!

  • http://www.facebook.com/stillborndefection Still Born Defection Genesis

stop changing shit around, i don’t care about time lines or top stories, never cared for it. i only care about the “ticker” as it was called. seriously you should have it set up where you can choose what you want it to look like instead of having it one set way. your going to end up like myspace even if you don’t believe me. everyone i have spoken to or read about there has been nothing but negative things said about these new “improved” changes. get with the program or windup like myspace. that’s all i have to say….

  • Gitter_queen1

I think this is just what your profile will look like- the newsfeed will still be there

  • http://alphaefficiency.com Bojan Djordjevic

This is not time line, this is profile. I like the changes!

  • http://www.facebook.com/alexsantana2005 Alexandre Santana

I’ve set up my time line as a developer, but only I can see it (when i click in my profile name). When my friends click on my name they see the samething as before (my profile page). Is that what’s suppose to be in the developer version? What about in the global roll out day (Sep 30th)?

    thanks in advance.

  • Heather

I have two words: It sucks!

  • http://kyrenedesigns.com Kate

I thought just as messy as MySpace then someone wrote the same!

  • http://www.socialmouths.com Francisco Rosales

You are absolutely right Alexandre, the only people that can see your new timeline are those with “developer” status. It will be completely open when it rolls out to the general public.

  • http://www.bronsonharrington.com/ Gnuboss

Hmm, I don’t know about this – the header section is nice but that’s where it end for me — the rest reminds me of the clunky YouTube channel layout.

If you look at Facebook history of changes you’ll notice that there is always an initial love/hate reaction. It’s normal. Some people are saying the whole experience is getting closer to reality and other, like yourself, are saying Facebook just turned into MySpace.

I was wondering that, since now G+ looks more like Facebook than Facebook itself, we will see some migrate but the reality is that at this point, even if this happens, I don’t think Facebook will suffer much from these changes.

I totally agree with you, I think “Ticker” is very cool and I can’t wait to have fully working on my end.

    Thanks for stopping by!

The first thing that bothers me is that the facebook changes are happening so often from day to day but of course I get used to the new versions however, my other issue is that FB appears to be using formats similar to other social networks.  I have always looked for FB to be innovative and not copy others.  The set up is becoming more intrusive and in my opinion provides more opportunity for spammers.  Not running off still a fan.

  • Fiona Phillips

I actually do like it but it’s looking more and more like a blog to me. Not quite sure where the newsfeed fits into the new layout.

I disagree Amber…it’s actually quite cool! And anyway, everyone still has total control of what they choose to post. You can set it up for yourself now and start getting acquainted/updating settings. Here are the instructions (very easy): http://on.mash.to/pG2BkB

  • http://myislandmuse.tumblr.com Stephanie Mack

This is the first I have heard about new facebook profiles. I am using facebook less and less these days. I like the header, it does look alot like a blog, myspace, youtube baby. What are they trying to do here? That is what I want to know.

  • Drcharlesdecker

It looks as if Facebook is now trying to be all things to everybody with their changes. Maybe they’ll rename it MyFaceTwit+ and completely blow up their brand…

  • Hannah

Haha. Do the creators of Facebook realize that after they do this everyone is gonna go to Google+!
This is so unorganized. It looks so stupid.

  • Anonymous

I like it! I set up mine last night and am enjoying learning all that it can do. I love the feel of the the whole life story, larger images, etc. I really like how easy it is to go back in time and see my “memories.” I’m wondering what all the people who say it sucks would prefer to see? I don’t get why all the resistance to change…social media is so young it is bound to change and grow or else what’s the point?

  • http://twitter.com/catarinaalexon Catarina Alexon

Confusing, but knowing Facebook it will suddenly just be reality and that’s all there’s to it:-)

All I want to know is how do I de-activate and turn fields off?

I watch movies on netflix all the time. Well, it’s more like I’ll put a movie on, then write or do some web work while the movie runs in the background. I have a pretty good taste in movies if I do say so myself. But really, I don’t want to communicate all of that on my Facebook Profile. Not. At. All.

So what I want to know is, can I turn some of those fields off? If not, I’m outta here.

Another thing is, it’s certainly going to make me boost my filters up as far as who I “Friend.” So much info there that people will have access to now.

  • Anonymous

Hi Francisco, well… it certainly take a little getting used to for sure.  Like anything though change will happen and of course we  may not like it at first… but we’ll get used to it!  After all, we have no choice!

Not sure that I really like the new layout. What was wrong with FB, haven’t they heard the old adage “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” I think 750 million people will be dissapointed when they login.

Google + is going to explode now.

  • http://www.vectorash.ro Victor Stanescu

Uh they are changing it, so like it or not, the Timeline is coming and there is no escape! It’s better to be prepared.

Its was quite cool for few days…after then i’m getting bored to use facebook profile page….if i put all privacy restrictions…the new profile looks like ugly empty boxes to my friends when they view it…Any way we are not going to stick in with fb profile page…we always are on (wall) homepage…

  • http://www.DigitalAgeMarketingGroup.com Victor Talha

I love it! I think this is a REAL STEP up for learning, sharing, discovering, and keeping it REAL with the world. I think these days we are transitioning our lives to clearly be real with ourselves and others. The lives we want to live and the way we live them is under more public scrutiny now because we are having our lives be put on ‘blast’ for the whole world to see…. as they say in the Bible, ‘Iron sharpens Iron’…. SO when we are posting and people are not liking or commenting in a disapproving way… we tend to correct certain things about ourselves, whether it’s a subtle change in our character, interactions with others, or merely just the way we speak… People are changing for the better and in turn, our Social Media Platforms are getting better with us :) However, this is just my opinion, of course.

  • Ccrogers15

facebook will be dead soon. Watch and see. Google+ is the next thing.

  • Jason

Have been using it now for a few weeks … what can i say .. just great so much better once you get use to it …  definately not disorganized like myspace .. and so much better than google+ ….. :)

  • Dark_eco_freak

To be quite honest i dont think you have a brain. Keeping it real? wtf does that mean. Keeping it real is getting your fucking ass of the internet and getting out there and interacting with people. Instead of pretending you know someone from looking at their ‘facebook’ page and talking to them via instant chat aka fake interaction. Get a life.

  • Timeline_sucks_balls

Hate it and despise it. Looks ridiculous. Is ridiculous. Only justification for people using it, its facebook. If facebook worked like this when it came out, it would never have drawn in the crowd it has today. Keep the classic facebook profile, keep it simple. There are reasons why I left Bebo.

  • me

if they do this im leaving facebook but i dont like google+ either it dont work properly so will be time to quit social networking

  • http://www.facebook.com/bloodinthewater Joseph Speak

I got the new profile yesterday and I have to say i really like the level of customisation available. All in all I don’t feel that it changes the Facebook experience that much until you come to visiting someone’s profile.

People should stop complaining. How dare Facebook change that service you don’t pay anything for? The liberty! Wait, no, suck it up or move on.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1204356226 Theresa McKeown

People would have been much more excited if this was an automatic change! However, many are just stuck out in limbo because they can’t communicate instantly!

It is a bit complicated and many are not going to be able to make adjustments.

  • http://www.facebook.com/samantha.mccall79 Samantha McCall

how do we get rid of it???

  • Stephanie Mack

Definitely don’t work for Facebook…just found out how to enable the new timeline via Twitter when it first came out. I think the profile pages look really cool, and what I mean by you having control of what to post is that no one is forced to share, play, or read anything through Facebook.

  • Gymkhana_horselover11

i would  like to know why i cant get the new timeline. a lot of my friends, including my fiance, have it and i really enjoy it. i think its great but when i try to get it, it wont let me

  • http://www.federerphotography.com/ Joe

So they copied a social networking site that they beat and now look just like myspace?  Bring on some dancing GIFs and bad backgrounds and we are set!

  • Rachael

I ‘upgraded’ my fb account to timeline thinking it might be good, but hell no! Biggest mistake of my life. It is absolutely awful! Messy, cluttered, un-navigable and just totally sloppy! How on earth and why did they release this!? What were they thinking! It’s a bit like a rip-off of myspace (but worse) etc. Today I opened a Google+ account, that solves that. Many of my friends are getting Google plus now, not only because of FB’s Facebooks aweful new layout but also because Google+ is much more secure, and you own your account, unlike facebook, where they keep everything you post. Shame on Facebook, they did have a good thing, now its gone.

  • guest

why do they even create a site if they’re going to change it? we don’t like the change. i absolutely hate it. dont get us used to something then change it. i came to fb from myspace, because myspace changed. ~ you’re going to go out of business just LIKE myspace if you change everything to timeline. i GUARANTEE you will.

Magical spells really work!! I never thought there were still honest, genuine, trustworthy and very powerful spell casters until i met the spiritual helper, MERUJA OWO. last week he did a love spell for me and it worked effectively and now he just casted another healing spell for my friend who has fibroid and family problem and now she is  totally free and she is presently the happiest person on earth, she keeps thanking me all day..
I just thought it would be good to tell the whole world about his good work and how genuine he is, i wasn’t thinking i could get any help because of my past experiences with other fake casters who could not bring my husband back to me and they all promised heaven and earth and all they are able to do is ask for more money all the time until i met with this man. he does all spells, Love spells, money spells, lottery spells e.t.c i wish i can save every one who is in those casters trap right now because i went though hell thinking and hoping they could help me.i recommend MERUJA OWO for any kind of help you want.
