It’s no secret that building backlinks is one of the most important aspects of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and one of the things you can do yourself to improve your rankings.
Now, are you aware of who is currently linking back to your site? In this post we’ll go over how to find out, setup alerts through a simple tool you already know, Google and see other options.
This is a very easy process that anybody can do in just a few clicks. Here is the step-by-step action:
Google Blog Search
Head over to Google Blog Search and run a search for “link:yourdomain” (i.e. “link:socialmouths.com”)
Google will kindly return the results for blogs linking back to your site.
Set up alerts
To set up email alerts or subscribe via RSS go to the subscribe section on the left bar and configure your preferences. You’re done.
If you use additional tools, you will find that there are more links to your site that are just not showing on the Google results.
Page inLink Analyzer
What I love about Page inLink Analyzer is that not only you can see what sites are linking back to your blog but you also view the amount of inlinks that page has, how many are linking to that domain and how many bookmarks it has on Delicious. Why is this important? because not all links are worth the same, the more popular sites linking to you have a higher impact.
Nothing to it, just go to link provided above, enter your url and it will build your report.
While I’m showing tracking tools in this post, the important thing is that you work on actually building these links. If you create valuable content and you promote it, some blogs will pick it up without even asking but you should also consider being proactive in building as many as you can. There is no point on implementing the tools if you are not getting any backlinks to your site.
